Manage your own mining operation
TerraForge is a simulation game developed and published by OverjoyedGameDevs. Here, you are in charge of a mining operation, where you must dig for materials and resources using a variety of tools, and then craft them into sellable goods to earn profit and grow the reputation of your mining shop.
At first glance, TerraForge seems like a simple mining and crafting simulator, but there’s more depth to it than just that. You also have to manage your shop in between conducting your daily mining operations. It’s a game where you have to be a multitasker to be an efficient foreman.
Become a legendary miner
In TerraForge, your family has a long-standing reputation for being renowned blacksmiths, with the goal of forging the ultimate weapon. This then begins your journey of digging through the Abyss, a legendary realm beneath the Earth that yields the rarest mystical materials. Use tools to burrow through dig sites and collect resources. Each mining site is procedural, giving you a new experience every time you dig deep underground.
Resources gathered can be crafted into items that you can sell at your shop. This grows its reputation and attracts more customers. Additionally, your shop can be decorated with furniture, which you can find at mining sites, to increase its appeal. There are also blueprints to unlock, powerful relics to find, and mining licenses to purchase — all of which let you progress deeper in the game.
In terms of the game’s soundtrack, it boasts a peaceful tone, perfect for withstanding hours of the repetitive cycle of mining, crafting, selling, and upgrading. The visuals are also presented in 2D style, with warm and cozy colors. The environment, especially when digging deep into the Abyss, is an excellent balance between relaxing and mysterious. It’s an indie-themed game that doesn’t lean on anything too flashy.
Great for its relaxing management gameplay
Overall, TerraForge delivers a warm, cozy experience of running your own mining empire. Despite having a lot of mechanics built into it, it’s still very accessible to the casual crowd, as the approach to grinding and progression is gentle and not really that complex to understand. It’s a unique take on the management genre, since you handle mining operations instead of a restaurant or retail store, like with other shop management games.
